Andy Newbegin
Bass Trombone
Andy grew up just outside Madison, Wisconsin and it was at an early age when he discovered an interest in music, leading to pursuing a career as a professional musician. He holds music degrees from both the University of Minnesota and the University of Kansas, and is a versatile freelancer throughout the Kansas City area playing symphonic, chamber, and jazz music. He’s a former member of the Topeka Symphony, St. Joseph Symphony, and the Des Moines Symphony, and has performed with the Kansas City Symphony.
Andy’s interests and skills are many, and as an artist in different genres, he brings more than just his fabulous trombone playing to Zen Brass. He’s also active as an audio engineer, too. AND, he’s a professional photographer and videographer, covering everything from portraits and wedding photos to sporting and other live events. When Andy isn’t working at his various jobs, you can find him cycling around the area on a number of different bikes, usually far behind his wife, who races road bikes, and goes much faster. A compassionate dog lover, he also fosters Weimaraners through the Heartland Weimaraner Rescue.
